Criminal Law Firm of the Year 2009

Liam O’Donnell & Co. are widely viewed as leading criminal defence lawyers.  Our company is based in Glasgow but provides representation in criminal courts throughout Scotland.   We are very proud to announce that our dedication and commitment to our clients has been recently recognised when we won Criminal Law Firm of the Year 2009.

The Firm has developed a formidable reputation in defending the prosecution of serious crime. We have been instructed in many murder cases, drugs cases (including the largest importation case in Scottish history), Customs & Excise prosecutions, Health & Safety prosecutions, Copyright prosecutions, attempted murder and serious assault, Firearm, etc.

We also deal with large numbers of summary criminal prosecutions in courts throughout Scotland including Road Traffic cases, Breach of the Peace, Assault, Shoplifting, etc. Many of these cases are tried either at the District Court or the Sheriff Court where we regularly practice.

The firm is also acknowledged as a leading provider of legal services in the field of Proceeds of Crime. We work with a team of forensic accountants and Counsel skilled in this new and complex area of the law.

We deal with both civil recovery (where there has been no prosecution) and confiscation proceedings following conviction. We are very well versed in the Proceeds of Crime Act and all subsequent legislation in this ever-changing field.

We also have a substantial practice involving criminal appeals. Successful appeals undertaken by the firm include the quashing of the 8 year sentence and conviction of a former solicitor. We did not provide representation at the original Trial but successfully conducted the appeal securing his acquittal.

We were also instructed in the well publicised appeal of Williams Mills who had a 9 year conviction and sentence for armed robbery overturned following our introduction at the appeal stage.
